Ingredients of Rava Upma/Uppittu/Semolina Upma
- Prepare 1 cup of semolina/ suji/ rava.
- It's 2 tbsp of oil.
- You need 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of chana dal.
- You need 1/2 tsp of urad dal.
- Prepare 2 of green chillies.
- It's 1 of chopped onion.
- You need 1 inch of ginger finely chopped.
- Prepare leaves of Few curry.
- It's 3 cups of water.
- You need 1/2 tsp of sugar.
- Prepare to taste of Salt.
- It's 1 tsp of ghee.
- You need 1/2 of lemon juice.
Its very easy, healthy, nutritious and filling dish. It is also known by other names like, sooji upma ,uppittu, uppumavu or uppeet. Upma, uppumavu or uppittu is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, most common in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu,Karnataka, Maharashtrian, Gujarat, Odia and Sri Lankan Tamil breakfast, cooked as a thick porridge from dry-roasted semolina or coarse rice flour. Rava Upma/Uppittu/Semolina Upma instructions
- Dry roast the rava for very few seconds on low flame, keep aside to cool completely..
- In a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil & add 1 tsp mustard seeds,1/2 tsp urad dal, 1/2 tsp chana dal,2 green chillies & few curry leaves..
- Now saute till the mustard seeds splutter..
- Add in the chopped onions, chopped ginger & saute well..
- Now pour 3 cups water & get to boil..
- Then add 1/2 tsp sugar, salt to taste,1 tsp ghee & mix well..
- Keeping the flame on low start adding the roasted rava slowly stirring continuously..
- This helps to prevent from any lumps formation..
- Mix continuously till the rava absorbs water..
- Simmer & cover with a lid on low flame for 5 mints or till upma is cooked well..
- Add 1/2 lemon juice & mix well..
- Serve the delicious,healthy rava upma/ uppittu with coconut chutney..
